Ready for Back to School?

Hello Everyone! I hope your August is going great. We are two weeks away from the start of a new school year! Yikes and Yeah. Are you ready for that? I know I am. We have our own little routine during the school year and once summer hits, that routine goes right out the window. But, I have been making preparations to get our school routine back on track.

Since the beginning of August, we have been going to bed at 9 p.m. (well, the kids anyways), so that they can get used to going to bed early and getting up early, trying to get back into our meal planning, organizing clothes and such. The girls wear red polo shirts with jeans, so I don't worry about buying the newest clothes out there, getting all the school supplies they need. Thankfully, my aunt and my cousin, who are both godmothers to my girls, buy the necessary supplies. My cousin is a music teacher and she always get the list before anyone and buys Kat's supplies, her mother, my aunt, gets all of Hailey's things. I am so lucky for that.

Since it takes a lot to get ready for back to school, I usually try to have a plan as to when I start getting things in order, like, when is Meet the Teacher Night? their bus schedules? what will they be eating for breakfast and lunch? These things are very easy to accomplish. Here is what I do. Two weeks before school, I call the school and find out when "Meet the Teacher Night" is, bus schedules and after school bus arrangements can be discussed during this meeting as well. I then go into the school's website and print out the Menu for that month, this way I have a clear view as to what they will be serving, because usually, the girls do not like what they serve for breakfast and that gives me time to get them up earlier, before the bus come and they can have cereal or I make some eggs, or eggos, or whatever they like. They do not take lunch, they seem to have a wide variety if the kids don't like what they serve. We lay out their clothes the night before & backpacks filled with supplies. These are just a few things I do to get ready for back to school.

I hope this helps you with your preparations to get your Back to School routine back on track. Once school starts, I will be starting a series on the monthly challenges we face during the actual school year. What we do when there is endless homework, how we handle the extra sports activities, dealing with the school nurse, dealing with the not so perfect grades, how we handle meal times that always seem to be the last thing on your mind when you are dealing with homework.

I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to blog to not only reflect that we live our lives by using coupons and saving, but I want it to be more personable. I want this blog to also be about saving time and energy and getting the most our of your day. I hope you continue with me on my journey and share your lives with me as well.
